Let's Go to Church Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy describes how Project 84 (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, stores, and shares information when you use the Let’s Go to Church mobile application and related backend services at project84.net/cel (the “Service”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to this Privacy Policy.
Information we collect
Account and profile: Name / display name, email address, username (if chosen), password (stored as a secure hash by our auth provider), and profile metadata such as leadership status, linked place of worship, and church team membership.
Location: With your permission, the app uses your device’s location while the app is in use to show nearby houses of worship and events on the map. We do not sell location data or use it for advertising.
Content you submit: Place-of-worship addition requests, church events you create as a linked leader, Live Study session metadata, church team invites and membership records, and crisis / help volunteer applications and talk requests (status, timestamps, and session identifiers needed to connect you with a volunteer).
Device and notifications: If you enable notifications, we may store a push notification token and related preferences (for example, Reading of the Day reminders).
Technical / operational data: Our hosting and proxy infrastructure may process standard technical data such as IP address, request timestamps, and approximate region (for security, abuse prevention, and reliability). We do not use this to build advertising profiles.
Public directory data: The Service includes a directory of houses of worship and publicly listed events. That directory is not your personal account data; it may come from public sources, organizer submissions, and administrative review.
How we use information
We use information to create and secure your account; provide map, Bible, Live Study, leadership, invites, help/support, and related features; show nearby venues and events; send optional notifications you enable; review place-of-worship requests; moderate abuse; maintain and improve the Service; and comply with law. We do not sell your personal information to data brokers or advertisers.
Permissions the app may request
| Permission | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Location (when in use) | Find nearby houses of worship and events |
| Camera | Live Study (and similar video) sessions |
| Microphone | Live Study (and similar audio) sessions |
| Notifications | Optional reminders (e.g. Reading of the Day) |
You can deny or revoke permissions in your device settings. Some features will not work without the related permission.
Third-party services
We use trusted providers to operate the Service (authentication and database hosting, cloud edge / proxy services, map providers, live video/audio via Jitsi Meet in-app, scripture text APIs, and app stores / push platforms). Camera/microphone media for Live Study and volunteer talk is handled by the video provider’s infrastructure while you are in a session. We do not control third-party privacy practices beyond our configuration of their services.
Live Study, help, and communications
Live Study and volunteer talk features may transmit audio/video while you are connected. Session titles, room IDs, host status, and similar metadata may be stored so others can find or join active sessions. Do not share sensitive personal information in open study rooms. Crisis hotline links may connect you to third-party organizations not operated by Project 84.
Children’s privacy
Let’s Go to Church is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Contact [email protected] if you believe a child under 13 has created an account.
Data retention, deletion, and security
We retain account and service data while your account is active and as needed to operate the Service, resolve disputes, and meet legal obligations. You may log out or delete your account in Settings (permanent). Deleting your account removes your authentication identity and associated personal profile data we control; it does not automatically remove public directory content that is not personal account data. We use industry-standard measures including encrypted transport, hashed passwords, and access controls.
International users & changes
The Service may be hosted or processed in the United States or other locations where our providers operate. We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time; the “Last updated” date will change when we do. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy.
